Joseph Keckler Returns to Australia with Melbourne and Sydney Supports Announced

Iconoclastic New York performer and singer-songwriter Joseph Keckler is set to make his highly anticipated return to Australia in February 2025. Following the announcement of his tour late last year, support acts for his Melbourne and Sydney shows have now been revealed.

At the Brunswick Ballroom on February 20, Keckler will be joined by Rosie Westbrook, a renowned contemporary composer and multi-instrumentalist. Known for her evocative, cinematic soundscapes, Westbrook has not only carved a name as a solo artist but has also contributed to film and TV soundtracks and performed with legends such as Mick Harvey, Spencer P. Jones, Sean Kelly, and Rob Snarski.

Meanwhile, at The Vanguard on February 23, Keckler will share the stage with D.C. Cross, an instrumental guitarist celebrated for his unique blend of fingerstyle guitar he dubs Australian Ecstatic Guitar. Formerly of Sydney’s Gerling and folk-noir duo Jep and Dep, Cross draws inspiration from legends like Leo Kottke, John Fahey, and Nick Drake while offering a distinctively Australian twist on the genre.

Joseph Keckler has earned widespread acclaim for his genre-defying performances that blend opera, art, and rock and roll. Crowned "best downtown performance artist" by The Village Voice and praised by The New York Times as a “major talent who shatters conventional boundaries,” Keckler’s magnetic stage presence and hauntingly expressive voice make his live shows unforgettable.

No stranger to high-profile collaborations, Keckler has been featured by NPR Tiny Desk, Lincoln Centre, and has toured the U.S. supporting Sleater-Kinney and Animal Collective. He first won over Australian audiences in March 2024 during a double bill with No Wave New York icon Lydia Lunch, earning accolades for his captivating storytelling, darkly humorous ballads, and extraordinary vocal range.

Keckler’s return tour promises a fresh selection of songs alongside fan favorites from his previous performances, touching on his signature themes of surreal encounters and existential musings. Having already sold out venues like the Melbourne Recital Centre, MONA Museum, and The Great Club in Sydney, this tour is a must-see.

Tickets are on sale now for what promises to be another unforgettable chapter in Joseph Keckler’s artistic journey.
