Choirboys singer Mark Gable discusses mooning Kylie Minogue and rehearsing in the nude

The year was 1989.

The world wide web was invented, the Berlin wall came down, the very first episode of The Simpsons aired… and Kylie Minogue got mooned by Mark Gable from Choirboys.

The lead singer explains showing off his backside to one of Australia's favourite daughters was purely opportunistic. “We were actually cutting the master to Run to Paradise from memory"

"I vaguely remember it, as she was walking out the door I dropped my pants and brown eyed her" Gable recalls.

Upon reflection, the rock legend understands it wasn't one of his brighter ideas, but, as they say, boys will be boys...

"It was a bit unfair because she (Kylie) was being really friendly and all that"

"Her and her manager turned around and saw it... but I didn't know that at the time... I don't think she would've been too keen on me after that"

If there is one consolation to the pop icon copping an eyeful of Gable's bum, he's sure he'd given his backside (and body) a good scrub beforehand.

"I'm sure that I had showered beforehand [laughs]"

It wouldn't be the only tale of nudity from a Choirboys session, as the singer discusses the recording of Talk Big.

The band couldn't get the song right, so of course, it was down to the birthday suit...

"We wanted to get a vibe happening and we couldn't get it right, so we tried it drunk... and nude"

"So what you hear on that album, when you're hearing that track... just think, we're drunk and naked during that recording"

Asked whether it was a collective idea to bash out a take starkers, Gable claims "that would've been my idea, and to drink the beer too"

"I don't drink anymore, I gave up in 2006"

"I woke up one Monday afternoon and something was broken, so I thought ok, no more party and I was finished"
